Shardae Fernandes | Secretary

Shardae

Shardae Fernandes was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was raised in Phoenix, Arizona for the majority of her life. Mental health was a very confusing subject for her growing up as she was battling some of her own mental illnesses such as anxiety and OCD. Shardae currently spends most of her days at Grand Canyon University; she is in the nursing program there and is on track to graduate by April 2017. She has always felt the need to help other people, especially when they are not at their best. This naturally led to her decision to pursue a career in nursing. She is also currently a volunteer specialist for Crisis Text Line (CTL). CTL is a great resource for anyone who is feeling suicidal, depressed, anxious, etc. All you have to do is text START to the number 741-741 and a trained crisis counselor like Shardae will text back within minutes and help talk you through those feelings. Shardae's future goals include becoming a neonatal nurse and eventually continuing on to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. While this is her primary focus right now, she is excited for the endeavors life will lead her to in the future. Above all, she is ecstatic to be a part of such a phenomenal campaign and can not wait to continue spreading the message of the Commit Campaign!
