Whitney Ford – Mama Makes Her Mark

150 150 The Commit Campaign

The Commit Campaign is proud to have partnered with so many inspiring mothers for the Mama’s Make Their Mark project. Parenthood is an incredibly difficult yet rewarding journey. We want to honor that journey and raise awareness about a mother’s mental health through these series of pictures and blog post.

Below is Whitney Ford’s extended pledge.

“In my 30 years on earth I’ve held many roles and titles, daughter, sister, student, friend, server, marketer, Miss Placentia, Miss Phoenix, Aunt, Executive Director, Girlfriend, Fiancé, Wife… but the most challenging, yet rewarding title I’ve ever been given is Mama.
Being a mother has changed me forever, and I truly think mothers (and fathers) have the most important jobs in the world. Recently I was asked by a dear friend of mine to participate in a project put on by the @commitcampaign to spark conversation, be an advocate, and support other moms in this incredible, yet often overwhelming journey.
In my blog I expand more on the purpose and mission.
I commit to being an advocate for those struggling with mental illness, to consciously make an effort in my actions and words to be open and honest with my personal struggles, and be someone who others can lean on in times of need. I commit to raising awareness about Postpartum Depression. 1 in 5 mothers today struggle with it and I want to end the stigmas associated with it.
I commit to loving and celebrating myself, my body, and my journey as a mother, giving myself grace, and viewing the changes both mentally and physically as badges of honor I have earned through the hard work of becoming a mama. #commitcampaign
